The city of
Dubrovnik is a rare pearl in the world’s cultural and
architectural heritage. It is the pride of Croatia’s
monumental and independent past. From the seventh to the
nineteenth century, Dubrovnik was the only free town-state
on the Croatian Adriatic. Dubrovnik has been listed as a
city-monument on the UNESCO cultural heritage register.
Particular sights of interest include the oldest pharmacy in
Europe, located in the Friars Minor monastery (1317). The Dubrovnik
Summer Festival is held every summer from July 10 to
August 25.
